CLASPS

Though often hidden from view, the clasp is a crucial element of earrings, directly affecting both comfort and practicality.
At MOSSA, we consider this component from the very first sketch. The complexity of a clasp influences the piece's cost, weight, and overall look. While the stud clasp is popular for its simplicity, we find it less refined compared to other options, but it's a necessity in the some cases.
For our Sense convertible earrings, we went beyond the standard English lock with a serial-made hook (the movable part of the clasp) and developed our own custom component shaped like the letter "S" from our logo. This detail increased production costs but also made the design far more distinctive. The hook is sturdy and resistant to bending, ensuring reliability and longevity.

This type of clasp remains completely invisible when worn. Hoops also lack sharp elements at the back, making them the safest and most comfortable choice - perfect for those who like to keep their earrings on overnight. However, the clasp is delicate: if you don't hear a clear click when fastening, gently adjust the pin up or down to align it properly.

Stud clasps are simple, practical, and affordable. Most brands use ready-made push-back clasps (more reliable and cost-effective than making them in-house, as they contain a soft rubber insert requiring special technology). We use only Italian silver clasps to ensure a secure hold and lasting friction.

The second detail is coated with the same finish as the earring, giving a seamless, cohesive appearance.
Remember, the clasp is one of the most delicate parts of your earrings. Avoid pulling on them when removing, and store your jewelry where the post won't be pressed or bent. If a clasp on your favorite MOSSA earrings gets damaged by accident - don't worry. Contact us, and we'll fix it.
